There are boat days and then there are Blue Angels boat days.
If you’re looking for an unforgettable way to spend a day on the Alabama Gulf Coast, grab your crew, rent a pontoon from Flora-Bama Marina & Watersports, and head toward Pensacola to catch the world-famous U.S. Navy Blue Angels practicing overhead.
Blue skies. Beautiful water. Your favorite people. And six Navy jets roaring through the sky.
It doesn’t get much more Gulf Coast than that.
Your Front-Row Seat Is on the Water
The Blue Angels call NAS Pensacola home, and throughout the year they take to the skies for practice demonstrations featuring the incredible formations and maneuvers that have made them famous around the world.
While there are several places on land to watch a practice, there’s something completely different about experiencing it from a boat.
Instead of finding a parking spot, fighting crowds and watching from shore, your crew can spend the morning cruising toward Pensacola before finding a great spot on the water to enjoy the show.
Visit Pensacola even recommends watching Blue Angels practices by boat, calling it a great way to experience the excitement of the jets while enjoying a day on the area’s coastal waterways.
And when those jets come roaring overhead?
Trust us, you’ll understand why people make this an annual tradition.
September 2026 Blue Angels Practice Dates
You have four opportunities to plan your Blue Angels boat day this September:
Tuesday, September 1
Wednesday, September 9
Tuesday, September 15
Tuesday, September 22
Practices typically begin around 10:30 a.m. and last approximately 45 minutes, although practice dates and times are always subject to change.
That means you’ll want to get an early start, give yourself plenty of travel time and be in position well before the jets take to the sky.
Make a Full Day of It with an 8-Hour Pontoon Rental
The best part? Watching the Blue Angels doesn’t have to be the whole adventure.
With an 8-hour pontoon rental from Flora-Bama Marina & Watersports, you’ve got plenty of time to turn your Blue Angels practice trip into an entire day on the water.
Start your morning at the marina, load up the cooler and head east toward Pensacola. After watching the Blues, spend the rest of the day cruising, looking for dolphins, finding a spot to swim or simply kicking back and enjoying the scenery.
Flora-Bama’s pontoons can accommodate groups of up to 12 people, making this a great adventure for families, vacation groups or a day out with friends.
Eight hours means there’s no need to rush back to the dock as soon as the jets disappear.
The Blue Angels can be the highlight of the day, not the end of it.
Skip the Road Trip and Take the Scenic Route
One of the best parts of starting at Flora-Bama Marina is that getting there becomes part of the experience.
Instead of spending your morning in the car driving toward Pensacola and dealing with parking and crowds, you’re already doing what you came to the Gulf Coast to do: being on the water.
Turn up the music, enjoy the breeze and watch the coastline go by as you make your way toward Pensacola.
You may even spot a few dolphins along the way.
Then comes the main event.
You’ll hear them before you see them.
Within seconds, the Blue Angels are overhead, flying formations and performing maneuvers at incredible speeds. Watching from the open water gives you a completely different perspective, and makes for some pretty amazing photos and videos, too.
What to Bring for Your Blue Angels Boat Day
A little preparation can make a great day even better. Before leaving Flora-Bama Marina, make sure your crew has:
- Sunscreen
- Sunglasses and hats
- Plenty of water
- Food and snacks
- A fully charged phone or camera
- Towels and swimsuits
- A waterproof bag for valuables
- Your favorite boating playlist
And don’t forget to leave room on your camera roll. You’re going to need it.
Why September Is the Perfect Time to Go
September is one of our favorite times to be on the water.
The Gulf Coast still feels like summer, but the peak vacation crowds have started to thin out. You can enjoy the sunshine, warm water and boating weather while experiencing one of the most iconic attractions in the Pensacola area.
Add a Blue Angels practice to the mix, and you’ve got a pretty unbeatable September day.
Boat. Blues. And a Full Day on the Water.
You could watch the Blue Angels from land.
But where’s the fun in that?
Grab your family or friends, book an 8-hour pontoon rental from Flora-Bama Marina & Watersports, and make a day of chasing blue skies, beautiful water and the Blue Angels.
Watch the Blues roar overhead in the morning, then spend the afternoon cruising the coast.
It’s not just another day at the beach.
It’s a front-row seat to one of the coolest shows on the Gulf Coast—with a pretty great ride getting there.
